Double the Gains: 3 Fun Partner Exercises to Heat Up Your Routine

1. The Partner Med-Ball Twist (Core & Obliques)

  • How to do it: Stand back-to-back with your partner, about a foot apart, keeping your knees slightly bent. Holding a medicine ball at chest level, twist your torso to the right and hand the ball off to your partner, who receives it and twists to their left to pass it back to you on the other side.
  • The Challenge: Complete 3 sets of 20 passes in one direction, then reverse the direction. Focus on keeping your hips square and engaging your core!

2. Wheelbarrow Push-Ups (Upper Body & Core)

  • How to do it: Partner A gets into a high plank position. Partner B stands between Partner A’s feet, gently lifts their ankles, and holds them at hip height (like a wheelbarrow). Partner A performs a push-up while Partner B holds steady.
  • The Challenge: Do 10 reps, then swap positions. To make it harder for Partner B, they can perform a squat while holding Partner A’s legs!

3. Mirror Squats with Claps (Lower Body & Coordination)

  • How to do it: Stand facing your partner, about arm’s length apart. Simultaneously lower into a deep squat, keeping your chest up and weight in your heels. As you drive back up to the starting standing position, high-five your partner (right hand to right hand, or both hands).
  • The Challenge: Keep a steady, synchronized rhythm. Aim for 3 sets of 15-20 reps.
